LOCAL LOVE: PEACE COLLECTIVE

Have you ever seen something and instantly said to yourself wow, I need this!
That was my exact reaction when I first saw these “Home is Canada” tees that I decided to add them immediately into my wish list.
Knowing I could twin with my little boy, I was beyond happy because I don’t get the opportunity to do it very often.

Our little family has been living in this beautiful country for 6 years next week, yay! and I have to confess I feel we are truly Canadians.
This week, Local Love is dedicated to Peace Collective, a Toronto-based company that is making streetware simply magical.

This cool indie Canadian brand created a cute line of graphic tees and jackets for women, men and now kids in collaboration with
Mini Mioche, which we absolutely adore.

Besides their stunning branding and faultless design, Peace Collective has devoted their efforts to an amazing philanthropical work, creating their own foundation The Peace Foundation making a big difference helping Canadian communities donating $4 into the program “Breakfast for Learning” for every garment sold.

Helping fight hunger, this brand is giving a child two meals and one healthy snack, showing that community involvement is the top priority.

If you didn’t know about this local brand, I had the chance to ask them how everything started a few years back.

– Tell us a bit about this lovely idea, Peace Collective

The brand started in 2015 here in Toronto when Yanal, the founder, decided he wanted to create a way to give back to the community. He didn’t know exactly how he wanted do it but he knew giving back had to be incorporated into whatever business venture he’d take part in.

Olivia took a nap 5 minutes before we started our outdoor shoot #mommyproblemsyou can notice her sleepy face, right?

– What made you decide to open your business and why a clothing oriented one?

One day in 2015 Yanal decided to make a few shirts for him and some friends for the Raptors game.

While at the game a lot of people started asking where he got his shirt and that’s when he realized that he wanted to step into the clothing business. With the belief of doing good for the community and his interest in clothing he decided to create Peace Collective.

– Any tips for future entrepreneurs in the city?

I would advise anybody looking to start a business to take the first step.I think most people wait to have the perfect business plan and structure and end up losing a lot of time. The truth is it won’t be perfect at the start but as you progress and learn you’ll fine tune the way you approach things. It’s a learning process but the most important thing is taking that first step!

Thank you, Peace Collective
I’m so proud of twinning with my little ones and show to the world that our home is Canada (:

Ps. Thank you for the photos, Instagram husband!

Great post! But I have to ask… Why is the font so small? It's kinda hard to read it..
